Biography: DePuy Synthes are now recruiting for Apprentice Toolmakers x 2 to join the Engineering Team, these apprentices will report into the Engineering Team Leader based in Loughbeg, Ringaskiddy, Co Cork OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES: The apprentice toolmaker will work in the Cork toolroom under the supervision of a fully qualified toolmaker.  The main responsibility will be to complete all activities assigned to the apprentice under the guidance of the qualified Toolmaker. POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • The apprenticeships will be run in conjunction with SOLAS, the National Training Authority and are time and standards based. • During their training each apprentice will achieve specific skills, which are competency based and will be assessed against a set criteria before they move to the next phase of their training. • The apprenticeship will be split into two sections: o Years 1 & 2 will focus on manual workshop based toolmaking. The role of the workshop is to support the day to day needs of the manufacturing floor. o Years 3 & 4 will advance to CNC based machining. The apprentices will shadow experienced application engineers in the set-up of machines to manufacture medical devices. • The apprentice will be shadow at all time by a fully qualified toolmaker who will act as their mentor and trainer throughout the entire training process. Qualifications EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Leaving Certificate Qualification ESSENTIAL: Interest in hands on work Willing to question and learn from other engineering staff DESIRABLE: An interest in and aptitude for Mechanical Work. The ability to work well as a member of a team. The ability to adapt to change and develop skills to meet these changes.
